Lok Sabha Elections 2024: BJP lagging behind in rural areas, INDIA Alliance leading

Chandigarh, 05 June, 2024: This time the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) missed the mark of 300 in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. NDA alliance has got 292 seats. While INDIA alliance got 243 seats. BJP alone could not succeed in touching the absolute majority mark. However, thanks to parties like TDP and JDU, the Modi government has moved towards forming the government for the third time.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party has maintained its dominance over much of rural India for the past 10 years, discontent and restlessness among farmers is becoming a problem for the BJP. It is believed that due to high unemployment of youth in rural areas, inflation, issue of rich people and agriculture related issues, BJP got less seats than expected.

In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, out of 303 seats in rural areas of India, NDA has got 168 seats, which is 30 seats less than the last election. At the same time, India Alliance has increased 62 seats in rural areas and 23 seats in urban and semi-urban areas. Bharat Gathjod got a total of 16 seats compared to 6 in urban areas, 29 seats compared to 12 in semi-urban areas and 109 seats compared to 47 in rural areas in 2019.

According to the Times of India report, in 2019, BJP got 46 out of 84 SC seats. Whereas in 2024 this figure will come down to 29 seats.

In these Lok Sabha elections, the vote percentage of Bharatiya Janata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party has decreased in Uttar Pradesh, along with this, the vote of India Alliance has increased by 19 percent. Here, where BJP had 62 seats in 2019, in 2024 this figure will come down to 33 seats. has come. With this, while Samajwadi Party had won 5 seats in 2019, it has now won 37 seats in 2024. Here Congress was successful in winning 01 seat in 2019, but this time 6 seats, BSP got 10 seats in 2019, but could not win even a single seat in 2024.

This time BJP’s vote bank has decreased in many states of North India like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan. This time BJP did not get even a single seat in Punjab. Punjab has mostly rural votes. Issues related to farmers in Punjab, demand for MSP, 2019. People did not like the performance of two BJP MPs, actor Sunny Deol from Gurdaspur and Som Prakash from Hoshiarpur. Both the parties have also suffered losses due to the breaking of the alliance between Akali Dal and BJP after the farmers’ movement.

In the 2014 Punjab Lok Sabha elections, BJP got 2 seats, Congress 3 seats, Shiromani Akali Dal 4 seats and AAP 4 seats. After this, in 2019, BJP got 02 seats, Congress 08, Akali Dal 02 and AAP got one seat from Sangrur. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not get a single seat, while Akali Dal got one seat, Congress got 07 seats and Aam Aadmi Party got 03 seats.

BJP had won 25 out of 25 seats in Rajasthan in 2014, 24 in 2019 and this time it had to be satisfied with only 14. The Congress-led Indian alliance has broken this myth by winning 11 seats.
